The UF Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, University Writing Program, and George A. Smathers Libraries are committed to helping early career researchers reach their writing goals and develop sustainable writing habits to support career success. Thirty UF Postdocs are participating in the Fall 2019 pilot.

Build a daily writing habit
Experiment with strategies, such as peer accountability, to overcome challenges to writing productivity
Establish and share writing goals
Participate in a “Getting Started” workshop through the UF Writing Program
Commit to writing for 25 minutes / work-day (M-F) followed by 5 minutes contributing toward peer accountability in program Slack workspace (total: 30 minutes a day, M-F)
Receive feedback and encouragement from peers and coaches.
Learn strategies for effective peer review, and work a peer review partner

*If you are unable to meet these time commitments, but still want to begin employing peer accountability to achieve your writing goals, stay tuned for Fall 2019 Writing Place Retreats. Writing Place Retreats will provide a quite space to sit and write in the company of peers and will be open to all UF Postdocs. Three Writing Place Retreats will be scheduled for Fall 2019. Coffee and light snacks will be provided.

National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity (NCFDD) has a Fall 2019 14-Day Writing Challenge, October 28th – November 10th, 2019. Registration for the Writing Challenge closes on Oct. 24th. In order to register for this free opportunity, you will need to claim your free NCFDD membership using your UF credentials. If you have already joined the NCFDD, you will simply need to login to your account and register.
UF Postdoc Writing Places, which are part of the Daily Writing Bootcamp, will be open to all UF Postdocs. Writing Place sessions will provide a communal space with coffee and light snacks for writing alongside your peers. These sessions will not include instruction, but are for the purpose of creating a time and space where you can prioritize your writing over your other responsibilities to help you meet your writing goals.
